Sarah Olney to fight Richmond by-election

Adur & Worthing Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that Sarah Olney has been selected as the Lib Dem candidate in the upcoming Richmond Park by-election. Hazel Thorpe – Leader, Worthing Borough Council Liberal Democrats said:

“We are very pleased to support Sarah who will listen to and work with the residents of Richmond Park. The conversation on Peston on Sunday clearly indicated that it would be very close – the Liberal Democrats could win the day.”

The by-election has been called after sitting MP Zac Goldsmith quit as a Conservative MP in protest at the government’s backing for a third Heathrow runway and will contest the poll as an independent. The Conservatives and UKIP have said they are not fielding candidates and have thrown their full support behind Mr Goldsmith; this goes to show that he isn’t the independent voice he claims to be!

The Lib Dems held the south-west London seat until 2010, finished second in the 2015 general election.

Sarah Olney is a fantastic candidate and stands a great chance of being elected.

She’s a mum of two and lives locally, in North Kingston, with her husband Ben.
She’s pro-Europe and is the anti-Brexit candidate in the by-election.
She’s strongly opposed to Heathrow expansion
She will campaign to improve our NHS and guarantee proper funding
She will campaign to improve local transport and supply of affordable housing.
