Get jamming at rock band workshops this Easter

The sound of rock music will be resonating from the seaside this Easter when young musicians take to the stage to sharpen their skills in newly-formed bands.

It is all thanks to a course, run by Rock Academy Worthing, offering children learning to sing or play the drums, keyboard or electric and bass guitars expert coaching by the West Sussex Music Service’s tutors.

There is still time to apply to the workshops, costing £78 per person, which are being held from 9am to 3:30pm, between April 2 and 4, at Worthing’s Northbrook College.

Two separate courses are on offer: one for students aged 13 and younger and another for those between 14 and 19-years-old – before both finish with a free-for-families concert showcasing the songs pupils have learnt.

Peter Griffiths, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Education and Schools, said:

“The Easter rock band courses have been very popular with young people in the area for many years.

“They provide gifted musicians with a chance to develop their skills and are also a great chance to meet new and likeminded people.”

The closing date for applications is March 19 and drummers must be of a minimum grade three standard.

Already formed bands can enter together but should apply as early as possible to book their places.
