Go-ahead by West Sussex for parking bans in Shoreham and Lancing

PROPOSALS to introduce No Waiting at Any Time restrictions in selected roads in Lancing and Shoreham have been given the go-ahead by Adur County Local Committee.

The restrictions cover:

Buckingham Road and Nicolson Drive, Shoreham: No Waiting at Any Time restriction on the north side of Nicolson Drive, as far as its junction with The Martlets.

A 1.8m (about six feet) wide parking bay will also be created in Buckingham Road so drivers will have to park close to the kerb and not exceed the bay’s width.

“However, this will be monitored and further action will be taken if the parking bay does not prove to be sufficient in solving the problem,” said Angie Mills, Committee Chairman.

Grinstead Lane and Freshbrook Road, Lancing: No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on the north side of Freshbrook Road by the road bridge and close to the sharp bend and at the junction with Russells Road.

It is also proposed to

·          Increase the No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on Grinstead Lane over the bridge and to modify the centre hatching accordingly.
·          Introduce No Waiting at Any Time restriction at the junction of Kings Road and Russells Drive to assist bus manoeuvres.

Welcome news indeed, and it will hopefully make the area much safer for pedestrians.
