Shoreham Harbour Regeneration – Right up your street!

Adur Council, working with Brighton & Hove City Council, West Sussex County Council and the Shoreham Port Authority, are preparing a Draft Joint Area Action Plan to set out the future vision and planning policies for the harbour area over the next 15-20 years.

As part of developing the plans local people living and working in the Shoreham Harbour area – which stretches from Hove Lagoon through to East Street/Ferry Road in Shoreham – are being asked how they would like to see the ‘street scape’ around the Harbour look in the future.

Consultants BDP have been appointed to prepare a Streetscape Guide which will be used to shape the ‘character’ and ‘look’ of public realm in the Shoreham Harbour area and will be used to assist in determining future development in this important area.

“Initial findings from locals at the November Shoreham Farmers Market held in the newly pedestrianised East Street were extremely positive and very encouraging” says Mehron Kirk, Director at BDP.

Jim Funnell, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Adur District Council, adds:

“It was really great to see the town buzzing so much. East Street looks fantastic now and will be a valuable space for all sorts of exciting activities in the future. It certainly demonstrates how improvements to public realm can transform an area and assist the local economy”
