Worthing road works finished three weeks early thanks to Lib Dem pressure

West Sussex County Council has completed essential refurbishment work at a junction in Worthing three weeks ahead of schedule following pressure from Lib Dem County Councillor for Tarring Division Bob Smytherman

Traffic signals were replaced at the junction of Tarring Road and South Street, next to the level crossing, which required the closure of South Street at both sides of the level crossing.

The programme of works had been set to last for eight weeks but was completed in five weeks.
The works involved maintenance work on the physical connections between the signals and installing tactile paving for the blind and partially sighted on the footway.

The project has cost approximately £90,000.

County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Pieter Montyn, said: “We are aware that this essential work was disruptive to residents and businesses in the area and for this we apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
“I am delighted that we have been able to complete this vital improvement work well within time.”
