Tories ‘rubber stamp’ Controversial Fencing

Tory Councillors have gone ahead with their controversial plans to fence off Broadwater Manor Ground despite hearing evidence from local residents groups that the consultation was flawed.

In response, Deputy Lib Dem Leader Bob Smytherman told the committee that this would be the “thin end of the wedge” as further applications to fence off public land would be inevitable as a result of failing to amend Council policies designed to protect Council assets. Bob reminded the Committee that as Councillors we did not own these public open spaces but we’re custodians of the Borough which is not something we should take lightly.

Tighten Planning

Adur & Worthing Liberal Democrats will continue to make the case to tighten up our planning policies to avoid such a a dereliction of duty happening again.
