Hazel Thorpe - Tarring Ward and Division
I have lived in Tarring for many happy years and have participated in many local activities and I’m proud of Tarring for being quoted as being the most community minded area in Worthing.
In Tarring we work together on environmental issues, such as flood reduction and reporting pot holes and other issues that spoil our environment, keeping people safe, social gatherings and raising money for local charities.
Worthing is a great place to live and work, and I would be honoured to be re-elected as Tarring’s representative at both local and county level. I have previously served them for 23 years and got things done and I want to do more.
I love going to the Worthing theatres with my husband Robin and have an extensive book collection. I am currently the Vice President of Worthing Lions and their welfare lead which keeps me busy. I am also Trustee of several charities including Worthing Community Chest, Humphrey’s Alms houses and Maybridge Keystone Club. I also like to spend time with Lola, my long-haired classic cat, and of course my extended family.
What local people say about Hazel Thorpe
Patrick Crehan, retired NHS Hospital Manager, says "I am backing Hazel Thorpe. Firstly, she is a resident of Tarring and thus is fully aware of local people's concerns and issues. Secondly, she has an extensive experience of public service which sits alongside a track record of achievement".
Isabella Regnante, One Stop Party Shop Business Entrepreneur and Creative says “I’m delighted to support Hazel in her candidacy for local councillor (Tarring Division). I’ve known her for some time, and I am genuinely in awe of the amount she gives to others and to the community.
Hazel has been involved in so many community initiatives over the years, always putting others first and giving her time and energy without hesitation. She seems to fit so much in, yet never loses her warmth, kindness, or personal touch with people.
What really stands out is her dedication - she doesn’t just care about the community; she actively works to improve it. She listens, she supports, and she takes action. People trust her because she is approachable, genuine, and deeply committed to making a difference”.
Debbie Stevens, Local Well - Being Entrepreneur says “Hazel would bring compassion, energy, and a strong sense of responsibility to the role of councillor. I have no doubt she would be an excellent representative and a real asset to the community.
I have known Hazel for about 20 years and in all the time she's has shown true grit and determination in helping the residents in Tarring and across Worthing.
She has helped my family in lots of different ways, supported and listened to all age groups, gender and cultures.
She is the glue that binds everyone together and has great knowledge and many connections. If she can't help you, rest assured she will find someone who can.
I am in awe of how hard Hazel works, she is an inspiration!”
