John Apsey - Broadwater Ward

My family and I moved to Worthing when I was two years old. I know the area very well and recognise the issues that many of us face on a daily basis.

I went to the local schools and eventually attended St John’s College Cambridge where I studied Natural Sciences.

On leaving University I worked in the Laboratories of Reckitt and Coleman in Hull for two years before becoming a Chemistry teacher and was also Chair of the A Level Chemistry Exam Board for home and overseas examinations for Pearson for many years until last year.

My wife Daphne also taught at local schools and our three children attended The Vale School, Durrington High School and Worthing VI Form College.

For the last 9 years I have been a school governor at Bohunt School in Broadwater which was also attended by two of my grandsons.
